BBRC HOST AREA 14 STYLE & SHOW JUMPING QUALIFIERS

The club hosted the Area 14 Outdoor show jumping and style Jumping qualifiers at Geldeston on Sunday 29th June.

Teams and individuals from six riding clubs took part.

The Beccles & Bungay Junior team were the only team to contest the Style jumping. All four successfully completed the course and therefore will qualify to go to the Championships. Georgia Cattermole and ‘Finnigans Summer Solstice’ were the individual winners with no jumping penalties, no time penalties and a bonus score of 87. Second place went to Emma Taylor and ‘Hugo’. They performed a clear round but collected 16 time faults which left them with a total score of 65.

BBRC entered two teams in the Junior Novice show jumping qualifier, the ‘Clarets’ and the ‘Golds’. The ‘Claret’ team emerged the victors. Emma Taylor (Hugo) took first place individually with Georgia Mudd (Dougal) in second place. Imogen Sheldrake (Glenvilla Belle) was third, Georgia Wright (Pumpkin Pie) took fourth. Connor Sharpe (Millie) and Annie Howland (Blaze) were fifth and sixth respectively. We also had a team in the Area only section. This comprosed of Katie Knights (Troy), Georgia Cattermole (Beveriche Rose of Tralee), Nathaniel Hurst (She’s the One) and Ellie Harris (India Moonslate).

There were three teams in the Junior Intermediate Show Jumping, one from Finn Valley, one from Carousel and our own team of Amelia Potter (Puddingbag Lane), Sharnnah Lee (Waveney Dinah), Alice Able (Seafield Peddlar) and Flynn Regan (Knock on the Head). Our club team was the only one to have a full complement of four riders and the other teams ran as teams of three. They both had a rider eliminated meaning they could not record three scores and were eliminated as teams.

Carleton rider Esther Anderson (Ranchwood Latte) won individually with Alice Able and ‘Seafield Peddlar’ coming second. Amelia Potter (Puddingbag Lane) was placed third and Sharnnah Lee (Waveny Dinah) were fifth so the BBRC junior team were deserving winners in their own right.

Only one Senior team entered the Style jumping. They all successfully completed the course and therefore are eligible to go through to the Championships.

Lucy Duffy ‘Singing Hocus Pocus’ entered the Senior 75cm Style jumping as an individual and finished in fourth place. Georgia Bell and ‘Puddingbag Lane’ entered the Senior 85cm and finished in fifth place.

In the Novice Show Jumping the club was represented by two teams, the ‘Bees’ and the ‘Butterflies’.

Due to a dramatic change in the weather the course, built by Tony Mallett, required careful riding with studs and sweeping turns producing the best results.

Davina Cattermole & 'Hugo' Winning BBRC 'Bee' team member and Individual winner of Senior Novice Show Jumping

Once again BBRC rose to the challenge and first place went to the ‘Bee’ team with Davina Cattermole and ‘Hugo’ taking first place individually. Lucy Frost and ‘Polly Whispers’ finished fifth individually. The other two members of the team were Corinne Bullock (Diamond Cruise) and Sam Palmer (Foreigner of the Lowlands).

The Carousel Red team were second. Our ‘Butterflies’ team finished in sixth place. This included Emma Julian (Little Irish Magic) who finished sixth individually, Georgie Bell (OBOS Whats the Story), Steve Small (Marcel Midnight Rae) and Kim Plunkett (Mr McPhee). Unfortunately Kim had a nasty fall in the first round so the ‘Butterflies’ had to run as a team of three in the second round.

Lucy Duffy (Singing Hocus Pocus) rode as an individual and finished on four faults over the two rounds. This ws their first Area competition and are a promising partnership for the future.

Georgie Bell rode ‘Norton Renne’ in the Senior Intermediate but finished out of the placings. Finn Valley Flyers won the Senior team Intermediate qualifier.

Charlotte Cattermole rode ‘Walinea’ in the Open. This was a hotly contested class with two riders going clear in both rounds. In the jump off the smaller horse ‘Van Neolux’ ridden by Rosie Stevens from Finn Valley made the most of the advantage this gave them in the conditions finishing their third clear round in a quicker time than Charlotte’s.

Subject to confirmation from BRC HQ. The qualifying teams and individuals will be heading off to the National Championships at Lincoln on 6th & 7th September.

Corinne Bullock, Senior Team Manager said ‘It was an amazing day. Despite both horses and riders getting throughly drenched there was a great atmosphere. Well done to everyone taking part’

Was a fab day, to come and support, despite being very wet, was great to see BBRC do so well, was an amazing jump-off by Davina and Hugo – they beat the second place rider by 15 seconds! So looking forward to supporting the team at the Champs in Lincoln.
