Poplar Park British Eventing Horse Trials took place over the weekend of 26th & 27th April. Several Beccles & Bungay Riding Club members competed. Congratulations to them all. We have a lot of talent within the club.
The report below was submitted by Georgie Bell.
In BE90 section A I rode Rachel Burton’s ‘OBOS What’s the Story’ (Bruno) he was laying 6th after dressage. We then went on to jump a fabulous double clear which was inside the time. This secured us third place and a regional qualification for the Badminton Grassroots competition. This is a new combination and I have only been riding him just over 3 weeks. He is next out at Keysoe!
Steve Small was also in BE90 section A riding Marcel Midnight Ray. He got a 41 dressage test and rolled one pole in the showjumping. He was then unfortunately unseated at fence 4 on the cross country but this did not stop him from re mounting and finishing the course. Tough stuff our boys are made of!!
There were lots of members in BE90 section B. It was judged by Marcia Fenwick. This was a very tough section! I rode Celia Stone’s ‘Puddingbag Lane’. She produced a fabulous 29 dressage test and double clear inside the time. This gained us fourth place!
Sam Palmer riding ‘Foreigner of the Lowlands’ produced a good 33.5 dressage test and double clear inside the time. They finished nineth.
Flynn Regan riding ‘Knock on the Head’ produced a 35 dressage test, his best this season out eventing. They picked up just 4 faults in the showjumping and did a fabulous speedy clear xc to finish 16th.
Sophie Mills rode Louise Hawkins ‘Coosan Curley’ in their first BE90 and got a great 36 dressage test and double clear but picked up 19 time faults. They finished 23rd. A great result for their first BE90.
In BE90 section C Lucy Frost rode ‘Polly Whispers’. She produced a 39.5 dressage test and then produced a double clear inside the time to finish 18th!
Junior member Lucy Taplin rode ‘Attlyglens Storm’. This was her first BE90! She did a 39.5 dressage test and picked up 8 faults showjumping. They had a couple of problems on the cross county but it was still great experience for them both.
In BE novice section E Louise Hawkins ride ‘Rinroe Supreme’. She did a 37.5 dressage test and double clear. They picked up 10 time faults and finished a very respectable 13th.
I also rode ‘Eldorado’ in BE open Novice section F. He produce a fabulous 31 dressage test. However we then withdrew him before showjumping as he was slightly unlevel and with Houghton Hall only a few weeks away I decided running him wasn’t worth the risk for just a small bruise. He is fine today! We are all go for Houghton now!
We are always keen to hear how our memebrs get on outside club events. Please send any info together with photos to bbrcinfo@btinternet.com
