We received the information below from Val Edgcombe the volunteer Safety Officer of the BHS in Norfolk.
The aim is for the BHS to collate any horse related incident so that they have information when trying to lobby for more safety awareness for horse and rider. Incidents include things such as low flying aircraft, road accidents, dog ‘attacks’, bird scarers etc.
If you are involved in an incident that you should be recorded then click on the link below and complete as instructed. There would appear to be little to lose and possibly much to gain in the future.
From Val.
You may or may not be aware but, the BHS runs and promotes a web site specifically aimed at encouraging riders to report any horse related incidents or accidents.
The web site is full of useful information on keeping horse and rider safe. On the roads, while towing and out hacking.
The BHS is very keen to promote awareness for the web site and encourage riders and owners whether members or not to wherever possible use the site to report horse related incidents or accidents using the web site www.horseaccidents.org.uk
By collecting statistics and with your help promoting the web site we can together raise awareness and lobby to make changes to make horses and riders safer everywhere.
