BRC AREA 14 WINTER DRESSAGE QUALIFIER

The Area 14 Winter Indoor dressage qualifier was hosted by Halesworth RC at Broads EC over the weekend of 29th & 30th November.
The Junior competition took place on the Saturday and the Seniors on the Sunday. The Senior competition was very popular and Halesworth were forced to limit the number of teams entered so some of our members did not get a chance to compete. Its good to see so many of our members willing to represent the club and we hope that we can accommodate more of you at different events and venues.

The following are reports from our team managers:

JUNIOR TEAMS by Helen Regan

BBRC Junior Gold team members

We were represented by two teams, Gold and Claret, in the Area only Junior Novice competition.

Sophie Turner riding ‘Rum Polly’ for the Gold team produced a lovely Prelim 18 test to win her class with a score of 70.83%. Sharnah Lee on ‘Waveney Dinah’ rode the second Prelim 18 and finished third. This put the Gold team in a strong position.

Their team mates, Lucy Taplin riding ‘Attyglen Storm’, and Beth Croom on ‘Hethel Zinfandel’ both contested the Novice 24. Beth came second and Lucy, who was riding her first ever Novice test, came third. This gave them a team total of six which secured first place.

The Claret team rode as a team of three so all three scores counted. Georgia Mudd riding ‘Dougal’ and Zoe Campling, a newcomer to Area teams, riding ‘Merlin’ rode the Prelim 18 test and finished with good scores of 62.71% and 61.67% respectively.

Ellie Mitchell riding a borrowed pony ‘Lizzie’ and competing for the first time at Novice level finished in fourth place. This gave the team a score of 13 and third place.

The Qualifier was won by Carelton.

It was an excellent result for both teams and a good start to the new season. The Juniors are obviously keen to try and hold onto the Chairman’s Trophy for a third year!

SENIOR TEAMS by Georgie Bell

Ali Rushmer riding 'Coosan Curly'

I would firstly like to start by saying the response to compete was fantastic. I had secured 1 qualifier team and 5 area teams. Unfortunately I was later informed that I could only enter 1 team in each section due to time constraints. I’m very sorry to those that were unable to compete this time round. I hope I get the same amount of response in the Summer.

The qualifying team, the B&B Bluebells, consisted of Julie Frost riding ‘Horse Heaven Rambo’, Emma Julian riding ‘Little Irish Magic’, Susannah Close riding ‘Rinroe Supreme’ and Alison Rushmere riding ‘Coosan Curley’.

The area team, the B&B Tulips, consisted of Mandie Bradly riding ‘ Glenraneen Boy’, Heidi Dashwood riding ‘Lady Luck’, Me riding ‘Eldorado’ and Lee Wright riding ‘Eloise d’Epris’.

There were 11 Teams in the Area competition and 8 Teams in the Qualifier. The day was very well run by Halesworth and was enjoyed by all.

In the qualifying section Julie Frost was our first member to go and she produced a super 68.75%. Emma was next and gained 66.67%. Both these riders rode a Prelim test. The next two riders were competing in the Novice section and were also on new rides. Suz produced a respectable 62.88% and Ali gained 65.58%. Julie was placed 4th Emma 6th Suz 14th and Ali 10th. The team gained 4th place. The places slightly changed for the Area sections due to more teams being entered. Julie held onto to 4th Emma moved to 8th Ali to 13th and Suz to 17th. The team moved to 5th.

In the area only section Mandie Bradly was first to go in the Prelim and she produced a super 68.33%. Heidi Dashwood was next and she produced 66.04%. In the Novice sections Lee produced a fab 68.46% and I got 75.00%. Mandie was placed 5th with Heidi 11th. Lee was 6th and I was 1st. The team gained 2nd.

Carleton RC won the Novice Qualifier with hosts Haleworth RC coming second.

Thank you to everyone that came and I look forward to the next event.
