BRC NATIONAL HORSE TRIALS CHAMPIONSHIPS

The BRC National Horse Trials Championships took place at Swalcliffe in Oxfordshire over the weekend of the 1st – 3rd August.
The each trial is a two day event as they still include the roads and tracks elements of horse trials.

The hot weather cooled off a little which was great for the competing horses and the rain just prior to the weekend produce great ground conditions.

Sharnah Lee proudly holding her sixth place rosette

Area 14 was represented by the BBRC team in the Junior 80cm trial. The team consisted of Sharnah Lee (Waveny Dinah), Amelia Potter (Marlow), Lucy Taplin (Attyglen Storm) and Georgia Cattermole. Georgia qualified riding ‘Finnigans Summer Solstice’ but unfortunately was forced to use her reserve horse ‘Country Daisy’ when ‘Finnigan’ went lame.

Sharnah did exceptionally well adding just 5.7 time penalties from the cross country (for going to fast!) to her dressage score. This secured her sixth place individually in her arena. The others produced good dressage tests but found the cross country very demanding but all gained valuable exprience at competing at this level.

Flynn Regan rode ‘Knock on the Head’ as an individual in the Junior 90 Trial. He produced one of his best competition dressage tests to date but added eight faults from the show jumping and a further 2.4 time penalties (again for being too fast). He did however secure himself tenth place in his arena. Another resounding success for a club member.

Emma Julian and 'Little Irish Magic'

Area 14 was also represented by the BBRC team in the Senior 90 Trials. The team comprised of Lucy Frost (Polly Whispers), Emma Julian (Little Irish Magic), Georgie Bell (OBOS Whats the Story) and Charlotte Cattermole (Walinea).

The Newquay RC team won the 90 Trial and it is believed that the BBRC team finished in thirteenth place. Charlotte did extremely well finishing on a final score of 33.5 which gave her third place individually in her arena.

Sam Palmer (Foreginer of the Lowlands) rode as an individual in the 90 Trial. She finished in ninth place in her arena with a final score of 31.9 after adding 3.2 penalties to her fantastic dressage score of just 28.7.

Georgie Bell also rode as an individual in both the 100 trial and the 100+ trial on her own horses Norton Renee and El Dorado.

All the competitors, friends and family that went along to assist and support had a great time and everyone came home safe and sound. It was a tremendous achievement for all concerned and the club can be proud of the performances and results that our teams are producing this year. Well done.
