It is with great regret that we inform members that committee member Esther Bean passed away recently after a spirited struggle against a debilitating disease.
Esther has played an active part in this riding club for many years, both as a rider and as ‘groom’ for her daughter Lizzie. Esther and her family kindly donated the Charlie Cross Country Challenge Cup in memory of their beloved grey horse ‘Charlie’ who loved to turbo charge his way round a cross country course.
She was a member of the committee for many years serving in various roles including that of treasurer. Most recently she was organiser of the club’s Eventer Challenge in July, a job completed with her usual efficiency, good humour and thoroughness. She also under took the role of starter at many cross country events and would send nervous competitors on their way with a smile and words of encouragement.
The club remembers with gratitude the practical support given by Esther and her family in running and assisting at events over the years, and the committee are greatly saddened by the sudden loss of a very popular and highly esteemed member.
Esther was to have taken entries for the open hunter trial to be held on 13th October, but this task has been taken on by Helen Regan. The club has notified national websites of this but members who have an earlier version of this schedule should note this change
