The day started off well for the committee when they tried to retrieve the secretary’s tent which had been blown over in the night only to find it damaged beyond repair.
So our hard working team, Claire Bodmer, Tina Everett and Corinne Bullock, went al fresco working on tables at the back of their cars. Fortunately it was dry for the majority of the day and they coped magnificently.
Entries were steady throughout the day and the course rode really well. It was a great course for this event which reflected in the low rider fall count for the day. Many eliminations were in fact rider errors with several people failing to pass through the start of the timed section and a some jumping the wrong fence. This shows the importance of walking the course carefully before competing.
Class 1 Novice 60cm was won by Leah Fairchild and Spot who went clear and whizzed through the timed section in just 10:41 seconds a full 4 :14 seconds faster than Lucy Frost riding her new young horse Kilcogy Drifter.
Class 2 the 60cm Pairs class was well supported and this was also won by a club member, Ellie Mitchell riding India Moonslate, riding with Sally Brown and Digby. They managed an impressive low penalty score of just 10 and and an incredibly quick time through the timed section. Second place went to the Churchyard sisters, Cerys and Ellen, who are both club members, riding Walydyke Poppy and Ebonys Dream respectively. They too had a very low penalty score of 15 and were just 0.15 seconds slower in the timed section.
Class 3 Novice 70cm was a busy class with 23 entries of which there were 11 clear rounds. Glen Marney riding Moss had the quickest timed section taking first place and club member, Connor Sharpe and Miss Moneypenny V taking second place. There were 4 eliminations in this class resulting from riders not passing through the start of the timed section.
In contrast only 3 pairs entered Class 4 70cm Pairs. Of these only one pair recorded a score with the other two pairs being eliminated, One because a partner suffered a fall and retired and the other due to a error of course and jumping a wrong fence. However the winning pair, Rebecca Gallard (Fred) and Grace Colby (Shezz) won with a very respectable score of just 15 penalties and a good time through the timed section so were worthy winners.
Rebecca Gallard and Fred carried this success through into the final class of the day the Novice 80cms. They produced a clear round and the fastest time in the timed section to take a their second first rosette. Club member Megan Maclean and Tattybag also produced a clear round but were 2:21 seconds slower through the timed section to take second place.
As always we are very grateful to Trish Harris and all our jump judges for enabling this event to take place. Thank you to our two dedicated runners Sadie Tattersall and Helen Notley for collecting the scores. Janet and Paul Woolner for stewarding the warm up arena and Corinne Bullock and Claire Drewery that came and helped to score.
If you were placed and did not pick up your rosette but would like it please send a LARGE SAE to Corinne Bullock, Kings Field, The Street, Hulver, NR34 7UE and we will endeavour to send it to you
We hope you all enjoyed your day and hope to see you all again at our next open event the Eventer Challenge on 31st July 2016.

The official photographer was Chris Doyle. Take a look at his web site http://www.chrisdoylephotos.co.uk . Hopefully you will find something there.
Congratulations on your win.
I saw a couple of guys round the course taking photos, were they official photographers? As I am interested in any they may have of me.
