Its been a busy month for Area 14 with three area qualifiers taking place over three consecutive weekends. However for our club it has been spectacularly successful.
Following on from winning qualifers at the Horse Trials and the Show Jumping the teams headed down to Stratford Hills for the summer dressage qualifiers on Sunday 6th July.
We had two senior teams contesting the Senior Prelim class. The test was Prelim 12. This was an extremely close contest for the top two places and the teams fighting it out – the BBRC ‘Butterflies’ and the BBRC ‘Bees’!! With the best three scores from the two teams being equal the fourth riders score came into play.
This edged the ‘Butterflies’ ahead of the ‘Bees’ with the St Edmunds team coming third.
The triumphant ‘Butterflies’ team consisted of Sam Palmer (Foreigner of the Lowlands), Georgie Bell (Puddingbag Lane), Lee Wright (Pumpkin Pie) and Celia Potter (Lord Marlow).
The ‘Bees’ was made up of Julie Frost (Horse Heaven Rambo), Alison Rushmer (Maggie May), Susannah Close (Prince Albert) and Corinne Bullock (Diamond Cruise).
Individually our members were well placed. In Arena 1 Georgie Bell was first with Alison Rushmer coming second and Julie Frost seventh. Lorraine Burwood riding Corinne Bullock’s big baby horse ‘Ollie’ finished twelfth a good result for their first Area competition.
In Arena 2 Lee Wright finished second and Susannah Close came seventh.
We were also represented in the Senior Open qualifier by the BBRC ‘Birds’.
In this class three different Novice tests and one Elementary test are ridden. Georgie Bell rode a Novice 30 on her experienced eventer ‘El Dorado’ and took first place individually. Lee Wright rode a Novice 24 on Caroline Oakes ‘Darcy’ and finished third individually. Charlotte Cattermole rodeĀ ‘Walinea’ and performed a Novice 34 with Lynn Bell and ‘Norton Renee’ tackling the Elementary 44 test. The team finished a very creditable third.
Alison Rushmer and ‘Maggie May’ also entered the Dressage to Music class and finished in second place.
Continuing the clubs run of success Georgie Bell and ‘El Dorado’ also contested the Riding Test qualifer and finished equal first with a rider from the host club Deben.
Our sole junior representative was Leanne Kelly and ‘Bruno VI’ who rode as an individual in the Junior Prelim 12 qualifier. Leanne has worked hard on her flatwork and she was well rewarded for this effort as she won the class and qualified as an individual.
The club will be well represented at the Championships in Lincoln on 6th & 7th September. The club teams have had a fantastic year and we wish them all the very best in September.
