STRATFORD HILLS BE EVENT – Members report

Georgie Bell & 'Norton Renee' @ Stratford Hills

On Saturday 14th June a handful of members competed at Stratford Hills BE in the BE90 and BE100 classes. The cross county time was very influential with no more than 23 combinations making the time in the BE90 out of over 120 competitors. The numbers were even less for the BE100 and Novice sections.

In BE90, Section A,  I rode Rachel Burton’s ‘OBOS What’s the Story’ (aka Bruno). He did a cracking 27.5 dressage but unfortunately had a  pole down, his first of the year, in the show jumping. We then flew round the xc. However I picked up 2 time faults which cost us the win! We finished on the same score as the leader but they were closer to the optimum time. Another great result for Bruno and that was his 3rd and final Grassroots qualification.

Sam Palmer rode her own ‘Foreigner of the Lowlands’. She produced a 36 dressage. They to tapped a pole in the showjumping and went on to do a fabulous clear xc but picked up 9.2 time faults. However this still gained them 10th place.

In BE90, Section B,  I rode Celia Stone-Potter’s ‘ Puddingbag Lane’. She was very bright!! After trying to gallop down the centre line she did settle to produce a 32 dressage. She redeemed herself by jumping a fabulous double clear inside the time to grab 2nd place and her 2nd grassroots qualification.

Lucy Frost rode her own ‘Polly Whispers’.  She did a 38.5 dressage and also produced a double clear inside the time which pulled them up the leaderboard to gain 6th place!

In BE90,  Section E,  Steve Small rode his own ‘Marcel Midnight Rae’.  They produced a 38.5 dressage and flew round with a double clear. They unfortunately picked up 2 time faults which put them just outside a top 10 finishers. They finished 11th and gained their first foundation point! Well done Steve.

In BE100,  Section F,  I rode my own ‘Norton Renee’. He did a very relaxed 34.5 dressage. He just tapped a pole due to rider error!! (Bad Georgie) We  flew round the xc clear and inside the time to pick up 5th place in his first outing this year.

What a great preparation for next weeks Riding Club ODE qualifier!!
