The winning Junior team. (From left to right) Connor Sharpe, Alice Able, Lydia Sida-Page & Sharnnah Lee

The Area 14 Intermediate Indoor Show Jumping qualifier, hosted by Finn Valley RC, took place at Topthorn on Saturday 14th February.

There were two junior teams entered High Fen and the BBRC team.

Our team sent out the first rider – Lydia Sida-Page on her new horse ‘Play the Joker’. She did a brilliant job of navigating her enormous youngster around the course. They finished with eight faults.

Our next rider was Alice Able with ‘Seafield Park Peddlar’ who went clear. Connor Sharpe on his new horse ‘Whippletree Elle’ was our third rider and they too managed a clear round.

Sharnnah Lee with ‘Waveney Dinah’ was our fourth and final team rider and they too went clear. This meant that our first round penalty tally was 0 as the best three scores count.

High Fen finished round one on four faults.

Round two led to a nail biting finish. Alice and Connor both produced two more clear rounds. Sharnnah and Lydia both finished the second round with eight faults each. This gave the team a final penalty score of eight faults.

The final rider in the team competition was riding for High Fen. She needed a clear round for the teams to draw. So the pressure on her was tremendous. She rode well but dropped a pole to collect another four faults for the team. This meant BBRC had won!

It was a brilliant competition and both teams rode well. The BBRC team spirit was fantastic with everyone cheering their team members on. Well done to the team.

Thank you also to Helen Sida-Page who did a course walk with the riders before the start.

We await official confirmation from BRC HQ but the team should be heading off to the National Championships at Bury Farm, Bucks in May.
