INDOOR DRESSAGE RESULTS

The first competition of the season got off to a great start with entries exceeding the capacity for the Indoor dressage at Humberstone on Sunday 8th March.

This was a new venue for the clubs Indoor dressage and was obviously popular. For the first time the competition was as Open competition but members heavily outweighed non members.

Laura Leggett & Charlie Bear winners of Restricted Prelim 7 & 12

Carole Futter was the judge for the morning and the day started with the Intro B class which was well supported. Amy Clarke and Compton Blue won with Evie Lake and Newcott Eyecatcher coming second and being the best placed Member.

The following class was Prelim 7. Member Laura Leggett and Charlie Bear won the Restricted section with an impressive score of 70% and went on to win the Restricted Prelim 12 class.

Ali Rushmer and Maggie May took top honours in the Open Prelim 7 with the best score of the day which was an massive 79%. They had to settle for third place in the Open Prelim 12 which was won by Lee Wright riding Ruby.

The afternoon classes were judged by Tori Bahal. We are very pleased to see Tori back in Suffolk and very pleased that she agreed to judge for us.

The Prelim 18 class ran as an Open class only. This was won by Charlie Fairchild and Prince of Thieves who triumphed despite being issued bib number 13 with a score of 72.08%

Julie Long & Kees Winners of Novice 27 & the % Class

The Novice 27 class also ran as an Open class only. This was easily won by Julie Long on her handsome dark Friesan Kees. Julie maintained her success to win the final Percentage class. She rode the only Novice 30 and scored 69.04% with Ruth Harris and Dan coming second riding Elementary 44 and scoring 67.6%. It was good to see Ruth and Dan out and about again.

Finally we have to say thank you to everyone that worked so hard to make this long day such a success. Claire Drewery gets the biggest thank you for scoring for the whole day. Claire Bodmer, assisted by her young daughter Abbie, and Zoe Rafferty acted as show secretary issuing numbers and dealing with problems. Michelle Kelly and her daughter Leanne manned the gate to ensure the show ran as swiftly as possible and were later relieved by Anne McVicar once she had finished her writing stint. The other writers for the day to whom we owe a thank you were Denise Baldry and Deanna Burwood. The final thank you goes to Marie and Andy Owen who, together with help from Ivan Vincent, prepared the arena the evening before and dismantled it afterwards.

Of course we also need to say thank you to everyone that supported the competition.

Our next Open event is the Spring Hunter Trial at Geldeston Park on Sunday 26th April. Schedule available on our web site and Horsedates. Hope to see you all there.

Thank-you to all the helpers without which the show would not go on! Your assistance and helpfulness meant everything went very smoothly. Particular thanks to Michelle Kelly and daughter Leanne who very kindly helped me to get my apprehensive horse into the arena. Jill England
