Our final competition of the year took place at Humberstone EC on Sunday 1st November. This was the Open Indoor Show Jumping and the event was organised and run by the club teams as a way of saying thank you to the club for their support at the Championships.
Despite the foggy morning the attendance was good and for the whole day laughter and cheers were heard echoing round the indoor school. None more so than for the novelty class Ride n Drive which was a speed round with the competitor required to jump a course of 75cm fences (on a horse!) and then to ride a very small bicycle and negotiate a slalom course of cones with balls on the top with a variety of ways to accrue penalties. It was great fun and Phoebe Dering riding Penny emerged the victor on a time of 59.37 seconds and no penalties. A brilliant effort Phoebe!
Every class winner received a prize which had been sourced by Marie Owen.
The teams also ran a raffle and a cake stall (which I am told Steve Small ate most of – is this true?) which has all contributed towards club funds.
Thank you to all the bakers and donators of prizes for the raffle.
Many thanks for supporting this event and we hope to see you all again next year.
