SUPERB RESULTS BY BBRC TEAMS @ BRC AREA 14 HORSE TRIALS QUALIFIERS
Emma Julian & 'Little Irish Magic'
The BRC Area 14 Horse Trials Qualifier hosted by Finn Valley RC took place at Poplar Park on Sunday 22nd June.
The club had a stunningly succesful day.
We had two Senior teams in the 90cm qualifier and Georgie Bell rode as an individual on her two horses.
It was a closely fought contest for the top spot with just 0.5 penalties deciding first and second place and both teams were from Beccles & Bungay RC!!
The BBRC Butterflies, consisting of Steve Small ‘Marcel Midnight Rae’, Emma Julian ‘Little Irish Magic’, Charlotte Cattermole ‘Walinea GB’, and Georgie Bell ‘OBOS Whats the Story’ just squeaked ahead of the BBRC Bees finishing on 101.2 penalties to the Bees 101.7 penalties.
The BBRC Bees consisted of Sam Palmer ‘Foreigner of the Lowlands’, Lucy Frost ‘Polly Whispers’, Georgie Bell ‘Puddingbag Lane’ and Corinne Bullock ‘Diamond Cruise’.
Finn Valley RC came third with 105.4 penalties.
Ten teams took part.
Sam Palmer & 'Foreigner of the Lowlands'
The BBRC Butterflies will be off to the Championships in September at Swalcliffe. They will be joined by Sam Palmer as Sam won her Arena with an awesome 30 penalty dressage and double clears so qualifies an an individual.
Georgie Bell rode ‘Norton Renee’ in the 100 class and just missed out by 0.1 from qualifying.
She then rode ‘El Dorado’ in the 100+ class. They produced an amazing 29.3 penalty dressage and finished first on that score going double clear and within the time.
An absolutely fantastic result all round.
All qualifications are subject to confirmation from BRC HQ.
Many Thanks to all that attended the event representing our club.
Report by Senior Teams Manager – Corinne Bullock
The day wasn’t just about the senior teams. The club was also represented by two junior teams in the 80cm class, an individual in the 80cm class and an individual in the 90cm class.
All produced good dressage tests resulting in penalties in the mid to upper 30’s. Amelia then produced a double clear over the show jumping and cross country phases but picked up 23.6 time penalties on the cross country. This however secured her fourth individually. Georgia also produced a double clear jumping and only 3.2 time penalties on the cross country pulling her up to second place. Sharnah unfortunately dropped a pole in the show jumping but went clear cross country but added time penalties from both jumping phases. But her excellent dressage secured her fifth place. The dropped score was from Lucy and the teams total saw them winning the class and qualifing for the Championships in August.
Our second team, BBRC Claret also saw some good individual results.Unfortunately Amy Oliver-Squire and ‘Splendid Surprise’ had to withdraw after the dressage and Laura Leggett and ‘Horse Heaven Rambo’ were eliminated on the cross country. However the other two team members, Sophie Turner (Rum Polly) and Lottie Basey-Fisher (Clones Paddy), completed all three phases. Both girls unfortunately dropped a pole in the show jumping but added just time penalties to their total on the cross country. Sophioe finished third individually and Lottie finished sixth.
BBRC took all of the top six places with the exception of first place. A brilliant result for the teams and the club.
The success did not finish there. Flynn Regan riding his own ‘Knock on the Head’ rode as an individual in the 90cm class. After a good dressage test they unfortunately rolled a pole in the show jumping. They flew round the cross country going clear but picking up 4.8 time penalties. His final score of 44.8 was good enough to win the class and secure a place at the Championships as well.
Rosemary Rushmer went as our required volunteer for the day. She spent a long day out on the cross country course fence judging. We are greatly indebted to her for giving up her time as without supplying a volunteer the club teams are not permitted to compete.

The BBRC Gold team consisted of Sharnah Lee (Waveney Dinah), Amelia Potter (Lord Marlow), Lucy Taplin (Attyglen Storm) and Georgia Wright (Pumpkin Pie).
