It is with great sadness that we received the news that one of our junior team members, Megan Maclean, has lost her pony ‘Magical Mary’.
Megan sent us this touching piece regarding her wonderful pony.
Sadly Mary was put to sleep on the 17th November 2014. This little horse turned her hoof to everything she was asked to do.
In Mary’s past years before we owned her she was only broken to drive and hunt. This meant that show jumping, cross country, working hunter and dressage was a whole new career. She took to her new life style like a duck to water and she throughly enjoyed it.
I never thought I would do a dressage competition on her in our competing years. However we did manage to at a Beccles & Bungay Fun Day which was one of my happiest moments (even if we didn’t get placed!)
Mary and I loved competing, especially for the Beccles & Bungay teams which were held at many different places, some of which we had never been before! In our first year we were part of the Junior Show Jumping team at the Area 14 qualifier which was held at Geldeston Hall. Our team qualified coming first and Mary and I finished second individually!
The following year we were part of the teams for 2-3 events coming first at every event with our team which meant we qualified.
Mary will never be replaced by any horse I have for many reasons such as:
I had never fallen off her and she never stopped at a fence nor run out.
I achieved so much with Mary and she taught me so much which I am very grateful.
She was truly magical.
Helen Regan – Junior team manager adds:
They were a great partnership. Brilliant junior team members. They’re were so good at the Lincoln championships 2013. Megan and Mary were last to jump in the team and were under huge pressure in the jump off, (third round) and rode a fantastic round. Mary will be sadly missed by BBRC junior teams.
Our sincerest condolences go to Megan and her family at the loss of this exceptional pony
